Anywho, I bounce around between hobbies. My latest is ham radio. I’ve got my Canadian Basic(+) since 2025. Currently I am working with a UV-5RM/UV-5R and recently picked up an IC-735. I have an interest in SSTV and am learning about other digital modes available.

Currently I am working with a 20m halfwave dipole made of some copper wire and held up with a painters pole that is pretty comprimised, so if we’ve made contact – yay hello!

I gotta get me a new soldering gun and fix them joints that might also be at fault but it’s cold out and I don’t want to fiddle so it’s back to listening locally. Where? Real ones know.
So i’ve got this local setup here, an rtl-sdr listening right now for local traffic on a repeater. That’s feeding into a local whisper ai that is transcribing the audio. That log file is moved over to my web server and permissions applied (mine! no log file 4 u).
The transcription is ~not good~ lmao but enjoy
